Foundation and Early years (1886-1910s)

Arsenal was founded in 1886 as Dial Square by a group of munitions workers at the Royal Arsenal in Woolwich, Kent (now part of southeast Landon). The club was soon renamed Royal Arsenal and then Woolwich arsenal when it joined The Football League in 1893, becoming the first club from the south of England to do so. In 1913, Arsenal moved to North London, dropping "Woolwich" from its name, and relocated to High bury, which would remain its home for over 90 years.

The Herbert Chapman Era (1925-1934)

The arrival of Herbert Chapman as manager 1925 marked a transformative period in Arsenal's history. Chapman is credited with modernizing the club, introducing tactical innovations such as the "WM" formation, and leading Arsenal to its first major trophies. Under Chapman's leadership, Arsenal won its first FA Cup in 1930 and its first league title in 1931. Despite Chapman's sudden death in 1934, Arsenal continued to dominate English football in the 1930s, winning five league titles and two FA Cups during the decade.

Following World War II, Arsenal resumed its success, winning the league title in 1948 under manager Tom Whittaker and again in 1953. The club also secured FA Cup in 1950. Arsenal achieved a significant milestone in the 1970-71 season by winning the league and FA Cup double under manager Bertie Mee. This was followed by appearances in the 1972 FA Cup final and the 1980 European Cup Winners Cup final, though the club finished as runners-up in both competitions.

The George Graham Era (1986-1995)

The appointment of George Graham as manager in 1986 heralded a new era of success for Arsenal. Known for their strong defense, Arsenal won the league title in dramatic fashion in 1989, defeating Liverpool at Anfield with a last-minute goal by Michael Thomas. Under Graham, arsenal won another league titles in 1991, two League Cups, an FA Cup, and the European Cup Winners Cup in 1994.

The Arsene Wenger Era (1996-2018)
